How to make a call using a phone card
- Dial the 1-800 access number. The 800 number must be dialed on a
touch-tone phone. It can be found on the top half of the back of the card.
- Enter your personal identification number (PIN). After calling the 800
number, you will be prompted to enter your PIN. When you buy a calling card, the PIN
is often covered with a coating similar to that of lottery tickets and can be scratched
off. with a your finger nail or a coin.
A voice will then give you the amount of money still left on your Phone Card.
- Dial the phone number that you wish to call. After dialing the phone
number that you wish to call, a voice typically will tell you how many minutes that you
have left on your Phone Card.
- Make another call or hang-up. If you want to make another call,
don't hang up. Just press * or ##, depending on your phone card's instructions, and dial
the number that you want to call. If you are calling from a pay phone that charges to make
800 calls, this feature is a real money saver and, at the very least, a time saver because
you don't have to enter the access number and your PIN again.
If you have a problem reaching the number that you are calling, or would like to know
how much calling another country will cost, call the customer service number, which is
typically at the bottom of the Phone Card.
